Excellent walks exist in all directions directly from the property, including the 'Gritstone Trail'. Although Higher Ingersley Barn is in the quiet of the countryside, the small and unspoiled town of Bollington is less than five minutes away. Once an important cotton-producing town, Bollington boasts ample facilities, including more than 20 pubs, many of which offer good food menus. There is a brief history of Bollington here. There are also two excellent restaurants, and a food & provisions 'late' shop is open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Take-away meals of various national cuisines may be obtained in Bollington and the old cotton town of Macclesfield, which is just a ten minute drive away. Any provisions or other buys you haven't been able to obtain in Bollington you will surely find in Macclesfield. As well as a comprehensive shopping area, it has four supermarkets (one open 24 hours a day), a main line railway station, regular bus services, museums and a leisure centre with comprehensive facilities. Manchester International Airport is only 25 minutes away, and we can arrange to collect visitors if required. Car rental can also be organised for you. |
